PORTLAND (WGME) -- Former Maine Senator George Mitchell's name will be removed from a UMaine building, a fund and a scholarship.
It's one of the latest moves stripping his legacy from Maine institutions since his name was revealed hundreds of times in the Epstein files.
The University of Maine System's board of trustees voted Monday to remove Mitchell's name from the "George J. Mitchell Center for Sustainability Solutions" on the UMaine campus.
His name is also stripped from a fund and scholarships tied to the center.
Mitchell's name has already been removed from schools and state buildings in Maine.
His name is mentioned more than 300 times in the Epstein files, although Mitchell has denied the accusations against him.
