Democrats are preparing to intensify scrutiny of the Jeffrey Epstein files if they regain control of Congress in November's midterm elections.

According toThe Guardian, Rep. Robert Garcia, the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, has identified the Epstein records as one of his leading investigative priorities.

A Democratic victory would give lawmakers greater authority to subpoena documents and compel testimony, potentially opening the door to new investigations into how Donald Trump's administration handled the files.

The Department of Justice previously released approximately 3.5 million pages of Epstein-related documents, despite possessing roughly six million. Officials maintained that the remaining records included duplicates.

However, the disclosure process has faced bipartisan criticism over extensive redactions and the accidental exposure of victims' identities.

Robert De Niro has also joined the growing calls for greater transparency over the Jeffrey Epstein files, aiming at Donald Trump with an unusual biblical comparison.

Speaking at an event in New York on Monday, the "Taxi Driver" actor addressed several women who have publicly identified themselves as victims of Epstein's abuse. De Niro questioned why the Trump administration had not released all the records, pointing to how often the president and his associates appeared in the documents already made public.

To drive his point home, the Oscar winner compared those mentions to references to Jesus Christ in the Bible.

"In the entire New Testament, there are just under 1,000 mentions of Jesus. In the first half of the Epstein files, there are 38,000 mentions of Trump, his family, and the private club. 38,000. What is he hiding?" heasked.
