President Donald Trump hasnât said where things stand with Iran after announcing this morning that he was meeting in the White House Situation Room to make a final decision on a proposed deal.
Concerns over the incoming Trump administration pushed former President Joe Biden to pardon his son, former first lady Jill Bidensaid in an interviewwith CBS, set to air this Sunday.
âJoe said in the beginning, 'I wonât pardon Hunter, I wonât pardon Hunter,'â Jill Biden said. âAnd then the Justice Department changed, and I think that the process was not fair to Hunter.â
Jill Biden said her husband was worried that Trump would go after their son, who at the time faced sentencing on tax evasion and gun charges.Bidenissued the pardonin December 2024shortly before leaving office.
Jill Biden added that "when Trump was elected, things changed, and we knew that he would target Hunter, and we just could not let our son go to jail on a charge that no one has ever gone to jail for."
Celebrations are taking place across the country leading up to the 250th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, including concerts, fairs and sporting events, with two main groups responsible for the largest festivities.
One of them, America250, is the nonprofit supporting the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission, which was established 10 years ago through an act of Congress and is led by a bipartisan group of lawmakers and private citizens. The other,Freedom 250,was established by the Trump administration as a public-private partnership by which to fund and plan events celebrating this summerâs historic anniversary.
This week, confusion about the difference between the two groups reached a fever pitchafter some of the artistswho were billed as performing atFreedom 250âs Great American State Fairbacked out, saying they were misled about the nature of the event.
