More than seven years after his death, the shadow of Jeffrey Epstein is still hanging over Sarah Ferguson and her ex-husband, former Prince Andrew.
Former Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson are continuing to feel the repercussions of their relationship with convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein.
Their dynamic with Epstein acted as the catalyst for Andrew’s recent spectacular fall from grace, which led to the loss of both their titles as Duke and Duchess of York in October of last year.
Now Fergie has been dealt another blow. A plaque, mounted in her honour, has been removed from a location near a London children’s hospital, according to the Daily Mail.
The stone monument was located near Great Ormond Street Hospital, and paid homage to “HER ROYAL HIGHNESS THE DUCHESS OF YORK,” citing Fergie as the person who “officially opened” the location.
Now two holes and an outline remain where the acknowledgment of Fergie’s involvement was secured.
“Homes from Home” is programmed by The Sick Children’s Trust, which provides families of sick kids with somewhere to stay while the children undergo treatment.
The program is intended especially for the parents of children in intensive care.
The Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) also has ties to another famous figure; author Sir James Matthew Barrie, who famously gifted all copyright and royalty rights for his beloved classic Peter Pan to the GOSH.
This isn’t the first setback for the former Duchess. In September of last year, Fergie was removed as sponsor for multiple organisations, including Julia’s House, Prevent Breast Cancer, and the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Those severings took place after The Mail on Sunday and The Sun reported that the former Duchess sent an email to Epstein, acknowledging him as a “steadfast, generous and supreme friend” in 2011.
After relinquishing their titles as Duke and Duchess, Prince Andrew was also stripped of his title of “Prince” in October of last year, a move made by King Charles as noisy speculation about the level of Andrew’s affiliation with the late Jeffrey Epstein reached fever pitch.
In 2011 Fergie told the Evening Standard she apologised for accepting 15,000 pounds from Epstein, a decision she admitted was a “gigantic error of judgment.”
The convicted sex offender died in his jail cell in New York on the 10th of August.
There have been whispers Ferguson is planning to pen a book, but according to PEOPLE a spokesperson for Fergie has denied she is writing a personal memoir, saying there have been “no discussions”.
