Chris Kelly Opinion: Epstein in Pine Brook

On a bright blue autumn Sunday, I stepped up into the back of a box truck parked outside a crowded coffee shop in Pine Brook, a Scranton neighborhood with a long history of governmental neglect and economic struggle.

Inside I entered a mobile library documenting decades of unspeakably dark sins committed by some of the world’s wealthiest and most powerful elites, a network of real-life monsters who preyed on the most vulnerable souls on the planet. Their neighborhood exists above the law and beyond boundaries of basic decency most humans would never cross.

The touring “Donald J. Trump and Jeffrey Epstein Memorial Bookmobile” pulled up outside the Retro Cafe on Capouse Avenue, drawing a small but steady trickle of witnesses willing to confront the contents of the so-called “Epstein files” and demand justice for victims of the “Epstein Class.”

Launched by the nonprofitInstitute for Primary Facts, the mobile library offers condensed volumes of the roughly 3.5 million documents released early this year in compliance with the Epstein Files Transparency Act, signed into law by President Trump in 2025. About 3.5 million more documents, including photographs and video evidence are still being withheld by the administration in violation of the law Trump signed and his repeated campaign promises to release the Epstein files.

Volumes on the bookmobile shelves are bound in two colors – chalk-white for general interest and blood-red for files that reference Trump and Epstein’s long, well-documented friendship. There are 53 such Trump volumes, which is no surprise considering Trump’s name appears in the released Epstein files roughly 38,000 times.

Bill Clinton is in there, too. And Bill Gates, Woody Allen, the former Prince Andrew, Elon Musk, and Steve Bannon. Les Wexner, Leon Black, Sergey Brin and Ariane de Rothschild are among scores of billionaires who appear in the files. Being named in the files is not in itself an indication of guilt, but empirical evidence that Epstein’s web reached into every corner of world wealth and power. He was a cancer that metastasized globally.

“I do think that most people in general recognize that this is a humanitarian issue,” said Camila Boas, a 29-year-old Washington, D.C., native who hosted the bookmobile tour. “I think we all, for the most part, understand that Epstein was a monster, and we can agree on that and that he had many monsters in his pocket.”

Some of those monsters infested our governments, our institutions and our corporate, academic and cultural monarchies. The “Epstein Class” wielded immense power and protected the sort of perversions once reserved for “divine right” royal courts.

Now, U.S. Attorney Gen. Todd Blanche and the Trump Department of “Justice” are protecting the monsters by withholding millions of files they are required by law to release and redacting references to powerful elites while exposing the personal details of victims.

“Part of the reason we’re here is we want all 6.5 million files released with proper redactions, because the redactions have been a major issue and just a failure of our government, at least in my book,” Boas said.

The volumes in the Trump/Epstein bookmobile are not easily searched. Often, especially in the Trump volumes, whole pages are blacked out. The Institute for Primary Facts staffs proper reading rooms in New York and D.C., where researchers can spend more time with the files in uncondensed form.

“I call it the corridor of hell,” Boas said. “You are walking down a hallway of crime, and it’s not four or five shelves – it’s 12-plus full-size bookshelves full of crimes spanning over four decades to not just children, women, boys, girls. Everyone was at risk, so we should do our best to get justice for the victims, but also to educate and hopefully prevent this from happening to future generations, because it is an ongoing issue.”

Not for the Trump administration and MAGA Republicans in Congress or diehard MAGA hypocrites. When Trump was running for a second term and promising to “Drain the Swamp” and expose the Epstein Class, release of the files was at the top of the MAGA list of urgent, non-negotiiable demands.

When it was revealed that Trump is named in the files nearly 40,000 times, MAGA hypocrites lost all interest. They willfully ignore what’s been released and excuse Trump for hiding the rest in daily violation of his campaign promises and the law he signed.

Meanwhile, instead of investigating suspects named in the Epstein files, Blanche and other MAGA minions are busy recastingNixonas the victim in the Watergate scandal. The irony is apparently lost on the Trump Cult. The Nixon White House insisted Watergate was a “Democratic hoax” and accused Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein and others of “inventing” confidential sources to report “fake news.” It was all true.
